I'm John Clark, aka high school nerd, aka gym class flunkie, aka non-athletic geek. I have always wished to be personally fit, but I was discouraged about my ability (or lack thereof), and I felt that fitness had little relation to real life unless it was functional (i.e. most was for show). In fact, I had thought that I might have to find a farm to work on to gain the fitness I desired... Well, after stumbling across CrossFit philosophy and methodology in 2008, I have ever since been hooked. While pursuing general fitness for myself, my wife, and children, I found that I couldn't help sharing the skills, programming, and enthusiasm with others. As a life-long student and teacher, CF fit my life and goals perfectly--CrossFit Brevard is my expression of this passion for fitness to my family, friends, and community.

Jeremy Whitworth, former owner of Brevard Rock Gym and current Program Director at Trails Carolina, is an original part of the CrossFit Brevard picture. A lifelong track and mountaineering athlete, Jeremy helped propel me into CrossFit with shared workouts based on Mountain Athlete and CF programming. For the first few months you could see us out in front of the Rock Gym flipping our tire and lugging rocks around. Jeremy and I received our Level 1 training together and he incorporated many of the fundamentals of functional fitness into his highly successful climbing training programs. He's an easy-going guy with an athlete's drive. I am blessed to have Jeremy as a fellow coach at CrossFit Brevard, and to call Jeremy and his wife, Caitlin, my friends!

Here at CrossFit Brevard we are privileged to have Marcie Wells as a coach and fellow CrossFitter. Marcie is a world-ranked professional CrossFit and GRID athlete. She comes to us with a wealth of knowledge, drive and enthusiasm for the sport, and she has pushed us here at CFB to go beyond our comfort zones! Her coaching style is high energy and always full of pain and gain!
At the age of 38 Marcie found herself in one of life's ruts, and when she found CrossFit it filled a void in her life that had been empty for some time. The community of CrossFit was instrumental in changing her outlook on life, her physique and her feeling of belonging. She competed in the 2010 CrossFit Games regionals competition and has continued to do so every year since. She has participated both as an individual and as a team member. She has competed as a Masters athlete in Carson twice, taking home a third-place finish in the 2014 World CrossFit Games for 40-year-old athletes. She also won a first-place finish in the 2015 WODAPALOOSA Games in Miami and is a two-time veteran GRID athlete for the Miami Surge.
Currently, Marcie calls Brevard home. She is an integral member of the coaching staff at CrossFit Brevard. When not at our gym or eating, she works as a Registered Nurse at our local hospital, and if not in either of those places you can find her on a trail alongside a waterfall somewhere nearby!
