Age: 56
How Long Have You Been a CFB Athlete? 3.5 years

What brought you to CrossFit?
I smoked cigarettes for 30+ years and nine years ago was diagnosed with severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).  I quit smoking and gained weight.  I was in a stressful career, overweight, and unhealthy.  I knew Dr. Clark through my work and he had mentored my son on his senior project at CrossFit.  I wanted to lose weight and feel better.  I was concerned about being able to work out as my lung capacity was very limited.  CrossFit has changed my life.  I lost weight and did things that seemed impossible.  I love my CrossFit Brevard family.  They support and encourage me through this journey

Important goals you've reached: I just completed my fourth 5K which makes me very proud!

Future Goals: With Marcie's help I am working on my breathing and strength.  I look forward to my first real pull-up and back sqautting my body weight.

Favorite WOD or WOD Element: This will sound insane, but I like the long WODs.  The 12 Days of Christmas, Murph, and the Thanksgiving WOD are my favorites.  It takes me longer than everyone else and usually I only do half the reps.  However, these work-outs help me realize how much I have accomplished.  I HATE burpees.

What advice would you offer to new or prospective CrossFitters? Don't ever think you can't do it.  I tell everyone who talks to me about CrossFit... "If I can do it anyone can."

Aside from a CrossFit athlete, how would you describe yourself? I love my family and my friends.  I love my job and the work we do to change the lives of our students.  I am very driven, self-motivated and set high expectations for myself and others.
